Terry Hertzog of Merion Golf Club in Ardmore won the 2022 Delaware Valley Open at Rolling Green Golf Club on the third playoff hole, writes Matt Frey for the PGA.com.
The Philadelphia PGA Member’s 3-under-par scorecard of 68 featured four birdies and one lone bogey. This is an impressive achievement on a golf course that was playing very difficult due to cool temperatures, wind gusts of around 30 mph, and slippery green surfaces.
“I got the breaks today,” said Hertzog. “I was not putting very well leading into the day, and made a few good, long putts today, including a long one for par on the first playoff hole.”
The event, which is a Philadelphia PGA Rolex / The Haverford Trust Company Player of the Year tournament, is the first Silvercrest Cup qualifier of the year.
Starting this season, the Silvercrest Cup series will feature four qualifying events and will culminate in a $30,000 Silvercrest Cup final that will take place at Gulph Mills Golf Club in King of Prussia.
As the winner, Hertzog took home the winner’s share of the purse and an extra $3,000 from the Silvercrest Cup qualifier bonus pool.
