To ensure the original mission of their nonprofit organization is kept alive, the Valentine family has gifted His Mission’s Kennett Square building to Good Samaritan Services, a nonprofit that serves the homeless in Chester and Lancaster counties, writes Joan Holliday for the Daily Local News

His Mission served the homeless in the Kennett Square area for more than three decades. Founded by Margaret Valentine, the organization offered those who needed help “a hand up” versus a “hand out.”

“Good Samaritan Services is the new name continuing the same good work with homeless men in the same building that His Mission operated for so many years in Southern Chester County,” said Nate Hoffer, CEO of Good Samaritan Services.

The building is being set up for emergency and transitional housing that will be able to house up to 25 residents. For a period of 60 days, they will work with a case manager on setting goals that will lead them to stable housing.

Good Samaritan Services is hoping to be ready to start by July 2022.
