In her interview with DJ Vlad, singer Kelly Price shared that a family member tried to have her placed under conservatorship during her battle with COVID-19 last year.
"I almost got 'Britney Speared' this summer," says Price. "There was conservatorship in play by a specific family member. Some of the family did fall out about it."
In late September, Spears' father, Jamie Spears, was suspended as conservator of her estate after the singer accused him of exploiting her. The pop singer's personal life and finances were entirely out of her control. The conservatorship finally ended after 13 years.
Price continued: "I have a great aunt who actually had something to say to my sister about that and said to her, 'why would you do that'?"
The aunt made it clear to Price's sister, "If she [Kelly Price] dies [her husband] gets it all."
The star made headlines in September 2021 after her family and the local police confirmed that she had been reported missing. Price was in the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. Her symptoms so severe, she was even admitted to the ICU.
But after leaving the hospital, her family claimed they had heard nothing from the star and began to worry about her whereabouts. After much speculation, Price finally sat down with TMZ.
"At some point, they lost me," she said at the time. "I woke up some days later, a couple days later, and the first thing I remember is the team of doctors standing around me and asking me if I knew what year it was."
