Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Mobile Home Fire

Rural Newton County, MO: Firefighters from multiple departments were at the scene of a 2-Alarm structure fire on Sunday evening, Jan. 23, 2022.

A structure fire was reported around 7:00 p.m. on Bison Road in Rural Newton County, south of Joplin. Upon arrival, firefighters found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames that quickly elevated to a 2-Alarm fire.

Minor explosions were heard as the fire burned. A firefighter at the scene stated the explosions were from fireworks.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Redings Mill Fire, Joplin Fire, Seneca Fire and Quapaw Fire were all at the location to battle the blaze. Newton County Sheriff's office and Newton County ambulance also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
