A Philadelphia family is urging the shooter who fatally shot a 17-year-old girl dead in East Mount Airy on Friday night to come forward.
Carissa Bright was rushed to the Chestnut Hill Hospital just on Friday night after being shot four times---once in the head and in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the hospital 20 minutes after.
"To know Carissa, you had to fall in love with her," said Gina Harris, Bright's cousin, told ABC6. "We just got a call, and we just ran out of here like hell."
Police say the incident occurred on the 6600 block of Ross Street. Bright was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked white Toyota with three other people. A dark-colored SUV then parked alongside the Toyota and fired at the people inside. Bright was the only one struck by the gunfire. Investigators say there was "at least" one shooter... meaning there could possibly have been more.
Police believe she was not the intended victim. Police have surveillance footage of the incident and are searching for a large black SUV---possibly a Lincoln Navigator.
"It hit all of our hearts, it hit all of our hearts, the whole family suffers and that's the worst part," said Harris.
"Just turn yourself in," said Harris. "Just do the right thing."
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for Bright's funeral proceedings. You can donate by clicking here.
