Affluent residents of Gladwyne are up in arms over Rosette, a new luxury senior living facility that will serve as a home to eight people, writes Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

Seniors living at Rosette will receive more personal attention and care thanks to the facility’s smaller size.

“We are here to provide a level of care that you can’t get anywhere else in the region,” said Thérèse Farrow Southwell, who owns and operates Rosette with Danielle Redenbaugh.

However neighbors – who include Brett Hamilton, a COO of a billion-dollar real estate investment firm, and Birgit Hottenrott, wife of Philadelphia Orchestra President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky – are not too happy about this new addition to the community.

So, they are announcing it with numerous lawn signs along the road that read: “STOP Rosette.” The signs increase in number as they get closer to the senior home.

But deterring potential clients is the only thing they can do, since the facility fits with the letter of the law that allows for group homes of up to eight elderly people, according to Lower Merion Township Commissioner Josh Grimes.
