Following a statement claiming Betty White died from natural causes, the release of the famed actor's death certificate revealed she died of a cerebrovascular accident caused by a stroke.

According to the death certificate obtained Monday by TMZ, White’s cause of death was listed as a cerebrovascular accident. The actress died from a stroke she suffered about a week before her death.
The NIH describes a cerebrovascular accident as loss of blood flow to a part of the brain, which causes brain tissue damage. A cerebrovascular accident can be caused by blood clots and broken blood vessels in the brain.
