Are you looking for something to do with your family during the Christmas season? If so, there’s no better place to be than Champaign-Urbana! No matter what your plans are, I’m sure that you can work in some of these holiday-themed activities for the weekend.

Christmas Downtown Champaign with the Literary & Hopscotch

Christmas is basically here, and you’re probably craving some inspiration for holiday outings. Thankfully, Champaign-Urbana is home to plenty of family-friendly attractions that will make it easy to find an experience you’ll love.

In fact, if you are ready to mingle with Santa, he and Mrs. Claus will be at the Literary & Hopscotch for brunch with Santa on Sunday, December 5th. In addition to mingling with Santa, a special waffle will be available all through brunch hours (9 AM- 2 PM).

If you are unfamiliar with Literary & Hopscotch, it’s a book bar located downtown Champaign at 122 N. Neil Street.

My nieces and I enjoy stopping in on Saturday mornings for the children’s storytime, which is another fun holiday activity to do, especially for the holidays.

Where to Eat in Urbana with Colors of Red and Green

While there are so many places to choose from, for this post, I am sharing Casa Del Mar. Not only am I sharing this because of their delicious food options and fast and friendly customer service, but their brand colors of decorations include red and green.

So, while you are dining in, you are likely to feel the Christmas vibes as you are drinking your lime margarita from a salted red-rimmed glass and enjoying your warm tortilla chips out of a green basket. Not only this, but the various light fixtures are also in shades of red and green.

If you are unfamiliar, Casa Del Mar is a Mexican restaurant located at 2870 S. Philo Rd. in Urbana. It’s tucked away in a quiet and quaint plaza off of Philo Road, across from the Meijer gas station.

Where to Shop in Champaign

Champaign, Illinois is a college town located roughly halfway between Chicago and St. Louis. It's most well known for being home to The University of Illinois, but it's also a hub for both student and local life.

So, if you're thinking about checking out Champaign-Urbana during Christmas break or on the weekend, consider popping into some of the amazing local boutiques and shops to get your holiday shopping done in style!

One of my favorites is Karen’s Closet!

But, you can check out the Shop Local Guide here for a list of amazing local stores to shop from!
