Seven years later, Lakewood Church in Houston found money that was reported missing. What is interesting, the money never left the church property.

A plumber was working at Lakewood Church and reported finding a large sum of money.

"But I mean it was just like unbelievable the things he was telling us they found in the wall."

The co-host of the morning radio show, Morning Bullpen at 100.3, George Lindsey, mentioned a recent call on this morning’s segment.

"We've been talking about things that you found of value and we have been blown away," said Lindsey.

A caller who recently did some plumbing work at Lakewood Church dropped a bombshell.

"There was a loose toilet in the wall and we removed the tile, well they removed the tile. Went to go remove the toilet and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall," said the plumber.

The envelopes were full of cash and checks.

ABC 13 stated there was about $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks that were taken.

"I went ahead and contacted the maintenance supervisor that was there and I went ahead and turned it all in," said the plumber.

In a statement, Lakewood Church said while repair work was being done an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found.

Lindsey said, "Don't you want to know what happened? I mean they stole the money, but they didn't get it out of the wall.”

What happened in the 2014 incident?

In 2014, there was a big story about money stolen from Lakewood Church.

Houston Police were still investigating the seven-year-old case involving the disappearance of $600,000 dollars.

During the initial investigation, the police made no arrests according to ABC 13.

In 2014, Lakewood reported the theft. According to a statement from the church:

"The funds were fully insured, and we are working with our insurance company to restore the stolen funds to the church.”

During the time of the incident, the only money missing was donations made during the service. No electronic payments were made.

Lakewood immediately notified the Houston Police Department and assisted with their investigation.

The church worked with the authorities on the theft.

"Lakewood Church is working in conjunction with the Houston Police Department to investigate this matter. We do not want to compromise the investigation by commenting at this time," said church spokesman Donald Illof, Jr at the time of the theft.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Pastor Joel Osteen told church members who attended on March 8 and 9 to monitor their bank account and credit cards.

How do you think someone left the money at Lakewood Church?
