The holiday season is nearly upon us, and gamers everywhere will be asking themselves: What video games to get for Christmas in 2021. Don't worry! Because today I'm gonna introduce to you some great video games for Christmas 2021. So without any further ado, let's get started!

1. Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 is the next installment for the wildly popular and critically praised Forza racing franchise. It's a must-have game for every driving enthusiast this Christmas. Thanks to its stunning graphics and enjoyable driving mechanics, the new game is situated in Mexico and boasts the series's largest open-world to date. Cities, volcanos, rainforests, ancient ruins, beaches, and everything in between are examples of its environments. A new dynamic weather system has also been added to Forza's profound driving mechanics, adding another degree of complexity.

2. Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is the most recent entry in the long-running open-world adventure franchise. The storyline is set in Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Antón Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.

Players will take control of Dani Rojas, a local Yaran, and become a guerrilla fighter to liberate the nation. They will fight against Anton's troops in the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara.

3. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the Nintendo DS title " Pokémon Diamond and Pearl", which were released in 2006. These new Pokémon games, which were announced as part of the Pokémon 25th Anniversary event, alongside Pokémon Legends: Arceus, are perhaps the most anticipated Nintendo Switch releases of the season. For Pokémon fanatics and most Switch users, they will be a must-have.

The game is in Sinnoh. And the player assumes the position of a Pokémon trainer, who must gather and battle Pokémon in order to become the greatest. It has a unique and appealing visual design as well as a complex open environment, in which players may emerge themselves. Pokémon games are perfect for kids and adults alike and provide hours of creature collecting fun.

4. Returnal

One of my favorite games of the year is Returnal. Returnal is an action science fiction horror video game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2021.

In Returnal, the players take on the role of Selene, a deep space scout working for ASTRA. While on a mission, she defies orders so she can track down a mysterious signal codenamed "White Shadow." Following this signal causes her to crash-land on a planet called Atropos. On Atropos, Selene must face the horrors of a time loop that re-awakens her in the same place every time she dies. Every time this happens, the world changes around her, and new obstacles and challenges appear.

It is a third-person action shooter game with elements of roguelike games in terms of the intention of dying and replaying a loop over and over again. The third-person action also incorporates "bullet hell" aspects that have become familiar in prior games developed by Housemarque. As Selene, the player has access to many weapons and abilities to help explore the environment and take on the many dangers found on Atropos. Apart from the action, Returnal also has storytelling elements that let the players find out more about Selene, the world around her, and what is going on on Atropos.

5. Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite is the upcoming sequel to Halo 5: Guardians and the third part of the Reclaimer Saga. This popular game's multiplayer mode, which is free, is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, while the full game, including its campaign, launches on December 8, 2021.

It is being developed by 343 Industries and will release on both Xbox One and PC platforms. Originally due to release alongside the Xbox Series X|S on November 10, 2020, the game has been postponed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting development, among other factors, and is set to release by Fall 2021. As of September 25, 2015, planning had already begun on the game, and its story was in production, with the writing process having already commenced in some capacity. Halo Infinite will have a story that is “much more human” than Halo 5: Guardians', and will “double down” on Master Chief, giving him more focus than he received in the previous game.

Halo Infinite will likely feature the cooperative play system of Halo 5: Guardians. Furthermore, it will support split-screen and it will have a beta prior to its release. There will be no Battle Royale mode featured according to Jeff Easterling's claim “The only BR we're interested in is the Battle Rifle”, in response to the popular trend during a live stream. Halo Infinite was not present at E3 2017, and at the time, Jeff Easterling stated in a Halo Waypoint blog post that its reveal “won't be soon”, implying a longer than usual development cycle for the main Halo game.

Among these 5 titles, which one are you most intrigued by and would like to play during the Christmas holiday? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
