A mother from Roseland, Chicago, was gunned down at the memorial site of her 14-year-old son who was shot a dozen times just days before.

On Sunday, Kevin Tinker was near the sidewalk in the 200 block of West 110th Place when he was struck multiple times by gunfire. His mother, Delisa Tucker, 31, was headed to the memorial to light a candle when the shooters opened fire. She was shot in the chest.

Tucker is survived by five children between the ages of four and 15.

“We need justice for Delisa and Kevin,” family friend Michelle Tharpe told CBS 2. “That’s all we want.”

Tinker’s father, Kevin Tinker Sr., said his son was walking home from a friend’s house when he was shot.

“Some violence found him,” said Tinker Sr. “He was a good kid. He didn’t gang bang. Played basketball. Played on his phone a lot. He liked to play games. He was not a gangbanger at all. He stayed in the house most of the time, with his little brothers and sisters.”

Detectives are investigating both killings. No witnesses have come forward.

Tucker lost her brother to gun violence two years ago. She also almost lost her 6-year-old daughter years prior to that.

“It’s just sad that this whole family, basically, to be killed over time,” said Pastor Donovan Price. “I’m devastated.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help support the family.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Roseland is one of the deadliest neighborhoods in Chicago, with 26 homicides so far this year.
