A young woman was shot to death in her bed as her five children slept nearby by a man she had been trying to escape.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is now searching for 48-year-old Johnny "Ray Ray" Landry in connection with the death of Shaterica Anderson, 28.
Police received a call via 911 around 2:30 a.m. It was from a woman who claimed that Landry called her to say he and his wife, Anderson, were fighting over a gun and accidentally discharged the gun.
Landry is the father of all five of Anderson's children, who are aged between ages three and nine. He is her common-law husband. KHOU reports that the children are still unaware that their mother is dead.
Landry was out on a $3,000 bond prior to this shooting for making a terroristic threat towards Anderson in a family violence case. Conditions of his bond were that he was not to use or possess a firearm and does not threaten or harass Anderson. Landry's next court date was scheduled for Dec. 27.
Jacoby Ashton, Anderson's brother, says she tried leaving Landry several times. They were not together at the time of her murder.
"She really tried to escape from him. She really did. From my understanding he was threatening our family to keep her around."
Ashton does not believe there was a struggle over the gun.
"It definitely wasn't a fight. It was just cold-blooded murder. It was just pure evil what he did to her. For him to do that with the kids in the house… thank God that they stayed asleep. The system really failed my family this time."
Ashton then spoke directly to Landry; "You will never rest peacefully as long as I'm alive because I will make sure that we find you."

Landry was last known to be driving a silver, four-door Ford Flex with Texas license plate number NNV-6613.
