British artist Stefflon Don took to social media to call out rapper Travis Scott after his Astro World Festival left at least eight people dead and dozens injured.
"As an artist, a mother and a human being I am so upset with Travis Scott. He saw an ambulance in the crowd while people were screaming for help saying 'people are dying' which he clearly heard but still continued to perform. Allot [sic] of kids died because of negligence," the rapper wrote in a series of tweets which have since been deleted.
"In this life many of us lack empathy. This world is driven off the pain and suffering of others. People are so caught up and forgot the true meaning of life. People are dying but you don't care because you are there to do a 'Job'. Society's bar is currently set on the floor," she continued.
In a press conference, authorities said that after the crowd "began to compress towards the front of the stage," causing panic and injuries. "People began to fall out, become unconscious," officials stated, "and it created additional panic." They also stated that "approximately 300 people were treated on site for minor injuries."
Stefflon says her heart is with the victims.
"When I see things like this it breaks my heart because this could be my child. Imagine people not helping your child. These kids are the future. We have to show them that caring is cool and this 'idgaf' attitude is detrimental," Stefflon added. "With that being said everyone involve' that got hired to make sure things like this doesn't happen should be held accountable not just Travis."
By Saturday afternoon, 13 of 25 injured who were transported to hospitals remained under doctors' care, Houston city leaders said. Reports show that five of those patients were under 18 years old.
