Jacobus van Zyl, a Glenmoore resident, is one of the millions of Americans who leveraged the job market in his favor. Christian Hetrick reported this professional transition for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The former financial controller had no problems with his previous employer. However, when he got a call from a talent agency, he was willing to listen. The offer consisted of a job that came with a higher salary, better benefits, and a superior title.

Van Zyl accepted, and since May, he has been working as the chief financial officer at King of Prussia-based TNG Consulting.

“There was an ability to further my career,” van Zyl said. “The position itself was a big-time improvement for me.”

Many people around the country and the state have joined this latest trend of quitting one job to scale up to a more lucrative position. Between April and August, close to 20 million Americans have left their jobs. In fact, around 4.3 million resigned just in August alone.

In Pennsylvania, roughly 120,000 employees quit their jobs in August.
