Sign-ups underway for youth basketball

The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District’s youth basketball sign-ups are underway. The league is open to third- through eighth-grade boys and girls. The third/fourth grade league will practice and hold games weeknights at Quincy High School. The fifth through eighth grade leagues will be competing in Portola, Loyalton, Chester and Downieville. SANTA ANA, Calif. — In an instant classic, Mater Dei beat Trinity League rival Servite 46-37 on Saturday night. Monarch QB Elijah Brown completed 17 of 23 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown in the win and Quincy Craig rushed for four touchdowns. Watch: Mater Dei and Servite put on a spectacular show as Monarchs win shootout 46-37

SANTA ANA– In one of the best offensive battles California high school football has seen in years, Mater Dei held off Servite late to win 46-37. Raleek Brown ran for 162 yards and a touchdown for the Monarchs, and Quincy Craig ran for four touchdowns on four carries. Craig also had a 54-yard kickoff return. Elijah Brown completed 17 of 23 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown to C.J. Williams, who finished with 135 receiving yards. Zabien Brown added an interception for MD to seal the win, and David Bailey had 3.5 sacks. Additionally, holder/punter Ryan Di Dodo threw a two-point conversion to LB Malaki Te’o on a broken play.
