Ohio State, off last weekend, travels to Bloomington, Ind., for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Indiana Hoosiers that ABC will televise to a national audience.

This is the 95th game in the all-time series and Ohio State holds a 76-12-5 advantage. Ohio State has won 25 consecutive in the series, but … Indiana is making things a little too interesting –as in uncomfortably interesting – for Ohio State of late.

Consider: 52-49 in 2012; 42-27 in 2014; 34- 27 in 2015; 49-26 in 2018; and 42-35 last year.

Indiana’s last wins over Ohio State: back-to-back in 1987 (31-10) and 1988 (41-7). The ’87 win snapped a 23-game Ohio State win streak over the Hoosiers. The two teams tied, 27-all, in 1990.

On keeping a job on this talented OL:

“Just knowing that everyone is skilled behind you and knowing they are doing better than you sometimes means that you have to pick up the slack and just do better at your job.”

On choosing the football path instead of basketball :

On changes made since the Oregon game:

“There was this sense of urgency. We understood we were not playing to the standard and we had to hold ourselves accountable for our responsibilities on the field. We all came together and understood we were not playing up to Ohio State’s standards. We made a promise to each other that we need to play our best game.”

On the bye-week:

“I think it’s good to have a week off in a sense that there’s now film on yourself that you are able to watch. You can watch yourself and see how you play, because you’re so busy with watching other teams play that you never really get to watch yourself and understand how other teams might be game planning for you. It’s really good because it’s a learning experience to catch up on film and critique yourself.”

On the importance of his versatility:

“I think it’s huge because at times we’re going to be required to do one thing and at times we’re going to be required to do something completely different. Being able to do that just helps my game. Being able to get the job done and answer your coach when he asks you to do something, I know it’s a great feeling for me personally.“

On coming off the bye-week:

“We have some momentum. We know, the coaches know, the people in this facility know that we haven’t played out best game yet so we are just excited for these next few games.”

On transition the defense in the middle of the season:

“It’s very hard. But it speaks the character of the guys on our defense, everyone is all in on this. The mindset on everyone on this team is: ‘We’re going to get it fixed.’ We changed the whole structure of the defense, we’re running a whole new defense in a quick amount of time and it’s working for us.”
