Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center kicks off its October music series tonight, Oct. 1, at 8 PM with the sultry rock sounds of Carlos Santana, performed by Jingo, which has been hailed as the ultimate tribute to the famous guitarist.
Jingo — a seven-piece, Latin rock band — is comprised of world-renowned musicians who will perform Santana’s best, and most beloved, songs from 1969 to today.
The group’s unique sound emulates Santana’s melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms. The music features unique percussion instruments, such as timbales and congas, not generally heard in rock music. Standout songs include “Black Magic Woman,” “Evil Ways,” “Maria Maria,” and many more.
“This is such an exciting way for us to kick off a great month of music,” said April Evans, executive director at Uptown! “We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to bring this caliber of musicianship to our community.”
