The Philadelphia metropolitan area is among the 50 happiest U.S. cities, according to residents. Hristina Byrnes reported our overall community glee for USA Today.

To determine the nation’s upbeat cities, 24/7 Tempo reviewed the happiness score of all 383 nationwide metro areas, using digital health company Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index. What makes a person happy can depend on a variety of factors, but these five key points seemed uniform across the board on what many residents consider in their happiness score.

The index measures residents’ sentiments toward:

Sharecare surveyed over 450,000 adults throughout the country, focusing on these five key areas. Its analysts sifted over 600 elements of social determinants of health from additional data sources.

Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington ranked No. 31 in Happiest Cities.

Other than the New York-Newark-Jersey City area that includes a small part of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia is the only Keystone State city to make the list.

The West Coast and Rocky Mountains regions dominate the rankings. California took the top two spots with San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward and San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metropolitan areas.
