(DETROIT) Motor City Pride fest returned to Detroit this weekend after being postponed from its usual June start date and being completely canceled in 2020.
The festival took place in Hart Plaza and featured a carnival atmosphere featuring food, games, music and more for festivalgoers to enjoy.
Artists such as Killer Flamingos, Jace M and Sabin performed live.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also stopped by the festival on Sunday to show her support for the LGBTQ community and promote unity.
The event also featured LGBTQ support marches throughout the streets of downtown Detroit.
The marches provided colorful displays of support for the LGBTQ community, and were sponsored by many Detroit-area companies including Beaumont Health, Ford, and the Detroit Tigers.
While the event was primarily attended by LGBTQ supporters, the rally also drew a couple of anti-LGBTQ demonstrators.
Two men with a sign that read “Repent, turn to Jesus or burn'' spoke through a megaphone regarding their opinion that the event shouldn’t be occurring.
Despite the small opposition, the marches continued with great support and fanfare.
Whether the fest will return next year during its normal launch month of June is yet to be seen.
