An employee at Annapolis Middle School has tested positive for the coronavirus, and a student showed symptoms but was not tested right away, according to a letter released by school officials.

"The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has designated a student as having COVID-19 symptoms and that the student was not tested within 48 hours after becoming symptomatic," the letter states. "In addition, an employee has tested positive for COVID-19."

The student was last in the building on September 8, 2021, and the employee was last in the building on September 9, 2021. Those who
have been identified as close contacts were reportedly contacted and provided with guidance on how to proceed.

The letter advises anyone developing any of symptoms should not take part in any school-related activity, and should be tested for COVID-19.
