Officials at Buckingham Palace are said to be outraged that leaked secret documents have revealed the UK Government’s huge security operation that will be launched in the hours and days after Queen Elizabeth II dies.

The details of the operation codenamed Operation London Bridge were leaked to Politico and reveal among other things how the Queen will be buried 10 days after she dies and her son and heir, Prince Charles, will embark on a tour of the UK before the burial is held.

Furthermore, Charles will address the nation on the day of his mother’s death, and the Prime Minister will be the first government member to issue a statement.

Politico reports that the day the Queen dies will be referred to as D-Day and the 10 days that follow will be referred to as D+1, D+2, and so on.

It was also reported by the news organization that in the hours following 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth’s death, a ‘call cascade’ will take place to inform the prime minister, the Cabinet secretary, and a number of senior ministers and officials.

As part of the plans, the royal body will lie in state for three days at the Houses of Parliament. There are fears that the volume of people who descend on London after the death will lead to gridlock, policing, and even food shortages.

To manage the chaos and unprecedented crowds in the 10-day lead-up to the funeral, a vast security operation has been put in place.

The Queen, who lost her husband Prince Philip earlier this year, and the British Prime Minister are also said to be in agreement that the day of her state funeral will be a day of national mourning.

The funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey and a national two-minute silence will be held at noon. The Queen will be buried at King George VI Memorial Chapel.
