The Bay Area: My Favorite Egg Rolls

I've been in the San Francisco Bay Area for about 16 years now. In that time, I've never truly found egg rolls that hit the spot. Egg rolls that reminded me of home. That has finally changed!

The best egg rolls that I’ve had in the time that I’ve been in the bay area are from a restaurant called Cha Ca Long Phung. These egg rolls are by far the tastiest egg rolls that I’ve had. The consistency in both the contents of the egg roll and the wrapping of the egg rolls themselves is phenomenal.

The restaurant is snuggled in a small parking lot in East San Jose. The egg rolls are definitely worth the trip and the hassle of trying to find parking. On a good day, you can find a spot in the parking lot. If not, there most likely is a parking spot just down the street from the restaurant.

When you enter the restaurant you’ll notice that it's part store, part restaurant. There is no sit-down, however. Just a pick-up, which is totally fine, because you'll want to enjoy these egg rolls in the comfort of your own home! In the restaurant, you'll see that there are a variety of Vietnamese goods. I have yet to try everything on their menu. However, I plan to go back for more egg rolls and each trip I will make sure to try something new on the menu.

What’s great about these egg rolls is that even after a day or two, they still taste exactly the same as the first day. And, best of all they taste exactly like the egg rolls that my family used to make! I highly recommend a trip out to the restaurant to pick up these egg rolls. About a dozen or two should do it because once you eat one you will definitely keep eating them. They are just that good!
