On July 29, 2021, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of West Mulberry Street to investigate a reported cutting.
When officers arrived at the location they observed a 39 year-old female suffering from multiple lacerations to the face and body. Medics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Hospital personnel stabilized the victim and transported her to a facility that specialized in traumatic injuries.
Doctors told investigators that the victim sustained over 20 cuts to the face and will require reconstructive surgery.
Investigators were able to identify a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for 39 year-old Mitchell Kirby for Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
On August 27, 2021, Kirby was arrested and formally charged. Mitchell Kirby is currently being held at Central Booking.
