(PORTLAND, Ore.) After a racially charged incident at a McDonalds in southeast Portland on Monday, a 35-year-old man is facing bias crime and other charges, KATU reports.
Court documents state that Justin Harrison was trespassing at the McDonalds on Southeast Powell Boulevard on Monday when the owner asked him to leave.
Police said Harrison called the owner, who is Black, a racial slur several times and also said “If you don’t get your Black (epithet) away, I’ll kill you and burn down this building.” He allegedly also pulled out a knife, threatened the owner and dragged the knife along their car.
Portland police arrived at the scene and took Harrison into custody. The arresting officer reported that he continued to use racial slurs as he was being arrested.
Harrison was arraigned on two counts of bias crime, two counts of criminal mischief, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon on Tuesday.
His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 11 and he remains in custody at the Multnomah County Jail.
