Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to the United States to be financially independent but some experts think their career plans only backfired at them.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are enjoying their lives in California with their two kids. Although they already stepped down as working royals, they may still need to use their “royal” card, a royal expert claimed.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry career plans

Royal expert Emily Andrews pointed out how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s career plans backfired. According to her, the royal couple left their senior royal duties for a private life away from the public spotlight. However, they never really left the limelight and even shared their “private moments” during their interview with Oprah Winfrey. She added that the couple has to “remind” the people that they are still royals.

Because of the royal brand they can get all these multimillion dollar deals but the problem with that is they have to keep reminding everyone that they’re royal and to do so that involves giving more and more away,” Andrews said in the Channel 5 documentary Meghan at 50.

Sussexes allegedly argued

Meanwhile, royal historian Ed Owens claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex constantly argued with their privacy. They reportedly felt that they do not have sufficient privacy and that their lives are burdensome because of the media.

They used the same narrative when they reached the United States. However, Owens finds it ironic that they suddenly opened up about their private lives and agreed to an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

For Owens, their idea of privacy has completely gotten out of the window. He didn’t think opening up their story on national TV with millions of people watching is consistent with the privacy that they have been longing for.

Oprah defended the royal couple

Many have questioned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey because of their demand for privacy. However, the multimedia mogul didn’t think there was something wrong in it.

When Oprah spoke with Today’s Hoda Kotb, she defended the Sussexes from the criticisms against them. According to Oprah, she also asks for privacy, but she’s talking all the time.

She said, privacy means not being intruded by photographers and paparazzi. She stressed that the people missed the real thing that the couple wanted. She also reminded the public that “privacy doesn’t mean silence.”
