(OAKLAND, Calif.) The 24-year-old woman who was shot to death Saturday on Highway 4 has been identified as India Prince, of Oakland, East Bay Times reports.
Prince’s killing is the first shooting death reported on the highway this year but marks the fifth shooting on the motorway since April.
Prince’s 17-year-old brother was also in the car at the time of the shooting, and sustained minor injuries. Prince’s 2-year-old son was also riding in the car but wasn't injured.
The shooting happened as Prince was driving west on Highway 4 near the Port Chicago exit at approximately 6:35 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The black Camry Prince was driving crashed into a metal guardrail after the shooting at the offramp.
On April 29, another shooting victim identified as a man in his 20s was injured in a shooting near the Railroad Avenue exit. An 11-year-old girl also suffered a minor injury after she was hit by gunfire on the highway.
Saturday’s shooting is being investigated by the CHP’s Special Investigations Unit.
