An auto-pedestrian crash left 4 people with injuries in Hempstead; Jose Carmen Sierra Gasca arrested (Hempstead, TX)

On Monday, four pedestrians, who seem to be a family, suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hempstead.

According to the Hempstead police, a 62-year-old man driving a Chevy Suburban hit two adult women and two children while heading eastbound in the 700 block of Austin Street near 6th Street at about 9:30 p.m.

As per the reports, the man stopped about a block away from the crash scene and cooperated with the officers. The two women who were hit are 26 and 24 years old. Police reported that one of the women is pregnant. Both women were in critical condition when they were flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital via Life Flight.

Medics also airlifted a 5-year-old boy to Memorial Hermann. The final victim, a 1-year-old girl, was transported to the hospital through an ambulance. Reports showed that a stroller and pink toddler shoes among other debris were scattered across Austin Street after the accident.

Hempstead police arrested 62-year-old Jose Carmen Sierra Gasca on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was booked into the Waller County Jail. Officers are waiting about the details of the conditions of the injured victims.

An investigation is underway.
