23-year-old man Emilio Garcia succumbed to his injuries following a single-vehicle crash that happened on Jasper’s Edgewood Street Saturday night.

According to the initial information, Emilio Garcia, a resident of Jasper, was traveling in a 2005 Mazda sedan north on Edgewood when for an unknown reason, he lost control his car. The Mazda ran off the road and slammed into a parked car at the home of William and Laura Scott at 203 Edgewood.

According to the reports, firefighters with the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department had to use a hydraulic rescue tool to remove Garcia from the wreckage of his car. “Garcia was not wearing a safety belt, and the force of the crash led to life-threatening injuries,” the press release said. Garcia was declared deceased after being taken to CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial Hospital.”
