Tennessee State News by Cyn Mackley
Terrible Tennessee teenagers spent 5 hours beating a 10-year-old girl bloody while their mom filmed it to share on social media.
The assault happened back on July 19 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. According to the little girl's mother, identified only as Callie to protect her privacy, some friends of her daughter knocked on their door about 7:30 am and invited the little girl over to play.
The child returned home 5 hours later covered in blood. According to a police officer dispatched to the scene, the girl had “obvious bruising and swelling to her face, arms, and legs.” EMS transported the little girl to the emergency room for treatment.
Tale of Torture
When Callie’s mother learned what really happened she was horrified and took to social media to share the story and demand justice for her daughter.
Callie told her mom that almost immediately after arriving at her so-called friends’ house, she was attacked by a group of teens.
“Callie was held hostage in their pantry, dragged to multiple rooms, and beaten. She had been struck all over her face/head/body by their fists, and multiple objects by multiple teenagers. Callie was sprayed with bleach and humiliated.”
Her mother shared this image of the marks on her daughter’s back.
Not only did the children’s mother do nothing to stop the attack, she allegedly encouraged the behavior and actually recorded it, later uploading the videos to social media including Snapchat and TikTok.
Police confirmed that they were indeed in possession of videos of the attack.
Additionally, the heartless woman forced poor Callie to clean up her own blood after the attack.
Justice For Callie
When this terrifying story and images of the aftermath of the brutal attack got out, there was an outpouring of support from the community and the nation.
A Change.org petition was launched, demanding that the teenage attackers be charged as adults. Friends also launched a GoFundMe to cover medical bills and Callie’s mom’s time off work. That fundraiser has already raised 7 times its initial $1,000 goal.
Community members also held a rally to support the little girl and demand justice. Supporters have treated the child to everything from free pizza to a motorcycle ride.
But what the family wanted most was justice. Police urged patience saying it was important to conduct a thorough investigation so any charges would stick.
Waiting For Arrests
Elizabethton Police Chief Jason Shaw said, There is an ongoing investigation on the serious and troubling situation. The victim is a juvenile and the involved suspects are juveniles. This is a delicate matter that we do take seriously. Our investigators are taking the necessary steps to properly investigate that include review evidence, properly interview, consult with the district attorney, the juvenile court, and child protective services. We want to ensure the case is handled properly for all parties that are involved. The suspect juveniles will receive the appropriate charges after the investigation is complete.”
On Friday, police announced that two teens had been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault. They were placed in the juvenile detention facility pending court appearances in juvenile court next week.
However, that’s not enough for Callie’s mom. She wants the mother of the kids involved in the assault arrested and charged.
