Kentucky State Police received a call from Henderson County Dispatch of a two-vehicle fatal collision today. The collision was on US 60 East at Tscharner Road east of Henderson.
Preliminary investigation reveals:
- 73-year-old David F. Crabtree of Owensboro was traveling west on US 60 when for an unknown reason crossed the centerline in his 1997 Honda Civic.
- Crabtree struck a 2013 Hyundai Sonata head-on driven by 19-year-old Elizabeth Mayfield of Spotsville.
Crabtree succumbed to his injuries on-scene. Mayfield was not injured in the collision.
Troopers believe both Crabtree and Mayfield were wearing their seatbelts.
US 60 was closed for three hours as Kentucky State Police reconstructed the collision.
Henderson County Coroner’s Office, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, and other agencies assisted troopers at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
