Multiple people injured after a street racing crash in Houston (Houston, TX)

On Thursday, a possible street racing crash injured eight people in Houston.

The incident took place in the Alief area at around 8 p.m. According to the officers, a driver in a black Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southbound in the 7500 block of S. Kirkwood when they collided with a Toyota minivan that was taking a turn from the northbound lanes. Bystanders informed the police that it seemed the Camaro driver was racing someone at the time of the accident.

Whoever was driving it ran from the scene on foot. There were reportedly eight people inside the van, including two adult women and six children. All of the occupants were transported to the hospital, including an 11-year-old, who was said to be in serious condition. The identities of the injured victims have not been released. Authorities are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

An investigation is underway.
