Richmond man shot during attempted robbery in Oakland

(OAKLAND, Calif.) An attempted robbery ended with a Richmond man being shot after he attempted to grab the suspect’s gun, East Bay Times reports.

The 27-year-old man was shot at approximately 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning in the 7100 block of International Boulevard.

His condition has been reported as stable.

The man told police that the suspect approached him after he got out of his car to get some beverages from a nearby liquor store when the suspect demanded his money at gunpoint.

The man then tried to grab the suspect’s gun and was shot in the hand during the struggle that ensued. The man was then able to get a ride to a hospital to be treated for his injury.

The suspect is described as Latino, 5 foot 10 and 280 pounds, with a dark complexion and a goatee. He was wearing a dark hoodie and beanie.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for any additional information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
