Michigan police discovered a baby boy abandoned outside a Detroit medical clinic after hearing the sound of crying.
Someone called the police after hearing the crying outside Riverview Medical Office.
An examination revealed that the boy is in good health. The baby was left with a diaper bag, as well as a car seat. While looking for diapers, police discovered a wristband identifying the child.
Police officers purchased diapers for the baby.
He was placed with a family member while child protective services and officers searched for the mother.
Safe Haven Laws allow parents to drop off a child without questions or charges filed against them.
You can drop off your baby anonymously at any fire station, police station, hospital, church, or medical office.
Leaving a baby outside the Safe Haven doesn't count. You can't leave an abandoned baby 100 yards from safety. The Safe Haven applies to infants up to 30 days old, in most states.
