(THE BRONX, N.Y.) The New York City Police Department announced Thursday it is in search of three robbers who handcuffed a man and covered a woman in a bedsheet during a home invasion in the Bronx, according to PIX 11.

The three men entered an apartment building near Franklin Avenue and East 168th Street around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, forced their way through the victims' door and went to their bedroom, officials said.

While in the apartment, they handcuffed the 32-year-old man and swaddled the 31-year-old woman in a sheet, then transferred her to another room, police said. The men proceeded to attack the male victims with guns in hand while requesting money and asking where his safe was.

When the 32-year-old refused to talk, the robbers burned him with a hot spoon, according to the NYPD. The robbers ravaged through the apartment and took off with a safe, jewelry and nearly 25 pairs of sneakers. The trio took off in a white SUV, heading northbound on Franklin Avenue.

Emergency medical services provided treatment for the man at the scene, police said. The woman escaped without injuries.

The NYPD is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects. The first man was last seen sporting a dark-colored baseball cap, a black mask, black and white gloves, a black and green sweatsuit and black and white sneakers. The second man was last seen in a black hooded jacket, gray gloves, blue jeans and black sneakers. The third man was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, a dark-colored hooded sweater, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by messaging on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.
