(WASHINGTON) A leader of the far-right Proud Boys group pleaded guilty on Monday for burning a Black Lives Matter church banner in December, according to NBC 4.
Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, 37, and other Proud Boy members allegedly took the BLM banner from Asbury United Methodist Church on Dec. 12 then set it on fire in an nearby downtown D.C. intersection.
Tarrio of Miami posted about setting the banner on fire on social media, prosecutors said. He was arrested on Jan. 4 after returning to D.C.
In that search, police found two high-capacity firearm magazines with the Proud Boys insignia.
He pleaded guilty in Superior Court to one count of destruction of property and one count of attempted possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device.
Tarrio is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 23. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 180 days in prison and a $1,000 fine.
