(AUSTIN, Texas) A Houston-born 17-year-old entered the Duck Brand competition called "2021 Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest" where she created a dress made entirely out of duct tape that pays tribute to her roots.

Larissa Leon made a Folklorico dress used in Mexican culture. She used 47 rolls and 163 hours to complete the dress, according to KVUE.

"I wanted to honor my culture and roots because I come from Mexican/Hispanic descent," she said. "Doing a traditional Folklorico dress helped me honor that because of my culture and how it’s widely celebrated through Texas."

Despite now living in Washington, Leon wanted to pay homage to her home state and culture.

"Texas has always been a big part of who I am. I was born there so I feel like I always carry Texas in my heart. And as my grandpa always reminds me, I am always a Tejana," she said.

Other entries and Leon's full dress can be seen here.
