(OAKLAND, Calif.) Oakland police are currently investigating an alleged kidnapping of a woman that lasted three days after she met with the suspect using a dating app, KTVU2 reports.
Details of the incident were collected by KTVU and included statements from a neighbor that were posted on NextDoor describing hearing the woman scream next door before she escaped the man’s house on Monday.
The woman reportedly told the neighbor that she met the man using the Tinder dating app.
After she made her escape, the woman ran to the 5400 block of Fleming Avenue where she was able to contact the police at about 3 p.m.
The Oakland Police Department confirmed that the man had been detained on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual assault but said the suspect’s identity won’t be released as he hasn’t been charged.
However, Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong acknowledged that case, posting a message to the neighbor who first came in contact with the woman following her escape, thanking the neighbor for his courage in a dangerous situation.
Another neighbor told KTVU that the incident left the neighborhood rattled after witnessing police cruisers and an armed bearcat assault vehicle descending on the man’s house.
"It was kind of hard for me to get by," the neighbor said. "It was kind of like nerve-racking because I didn’t know what was really going on."
