(ATLANTA, Ga.) A new Italian dining experience is opening and occupying the former Bocado space on Howell Mill Road. Reasons for the space closing are unknown but the establishment operated for 12 years.
The new restaurant, Bastone, is owned by chef Pat Pascarella, who also owns the Italian restaurant Grana in the midtown area and the White Bull in Decatur. Bastone is described as a mozzarella bar and is set to serve hand-made pasta along with wine and cocktails.
The menu is centered around imported mozzarella and cheeses. Pascarella also plans to serve a range of Italian salumi on the menu in addition to pasta. The layout of the restaurant will feature a dining room, bar and patio with an occupancy of 150 people.
Chef Pascarella opened Grana last March during the pandemic and ran the restaurant as a takeout operation until last summer. The establishment opened its rooftop patio for patrons first, followed by the dining room which allowed a limited number of guests. Now, the restaurant fully operates as a dine-in service and serves Neapolitan-style pizzas, a selection of meatballs, and Pascarella’s pasta.
The White Bull is located in the Decatur square area and has been operating since 2018. The menu features 16 dishes with four of those being dedicated to pasta made from flour milled on site.
During the pandemic, the restaurant closed briefly for renovations and equipment upgrades including new floor-to-ceiling glass windows in front and a back patio to expand the outdoor seating.
A retail section was also added to the front of the White Bull selling the restaurant’s pasta, sauces, and meatballs
Pascarella hasn’t provided additional details on the new establishment but his track record has proven that it will be a dining experience that customers return to time and time again.
