(GLENDALE, Ariz.) The Glendale Police Department identified a man suspected of shooting at an off-duty officer on Tuesday, azfamily reported.
Police said the incident happened just after 3 p.m. An officer got off work at the station near 83rd and Maryland avenues and saw someone reportedly driving recklessly.
The driver allegedly crashed into a curb, a street sign and then street light before driving away. The officer followed the driver along a canal, police said.
That's when the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Gabio Hernandez, allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot at the officer several times. The officer reportedly shot back at Hernandez, but neither hit each other.
Hernandez left the area, stole a bicycle and tried to get away, police said. He was eventually arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault. Glendale police said additional charges may be pending.
