Children's Museum of Atlanta appoints six new members to Board of Directors

Children’s Museum of Atlanta has appointed six new members to its Board of Directors, including Dr. Brian Williams of Georgia State University, Marissa Pace of Spelman College, Steve Brothers of PNC, Adrienne Hoyt of CNN Worldwide and WarnerMedia News & Sports, Heather Balkema of North Highland and Serena Levy of The Coca-Cola Company.

Aligned with the Museum’s mission of sparking every child’s sense of learning, Brian Williams has over two decades of experience working in schools and various educational communities. He currently serves as a clinical professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education – as well as the director of the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence – at Georgia State University’s College of Education & Human Development, focusing on science, urban and social justice education. He has served various other community organizations, such as the National Science Foundation, the Educational Development Center and Quality Education for Minorities.

Marissa Pace is a licensed certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, acting as the assistant vice president of business and financial affairs at Spelman College. She combines her accomplished financial and analytical background with a strong desire to serve the community, serving as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and The Georgia Society of CPAs, in addition to supporting the Museum.

Steve Brothers, an established financial leader, is the executive vice president and Georgia market leader for the Corporate Banking Group at PNC. In addition to serving Children’s Museum of Atlanta, he was previously part of the Advisory Cabinet for the American Heart Association’s Atlanta Heart Walk.

Adrienne Hoyt is the vice president of internal communications at CNN Worldwide and WarnerMedia News & Sports, spearheading crisis, Diversity & Inclusion and executive communications. Alongside Children’s Museum of Atlanta, she sits on the Board of Directors for Quality Care for Children and Women in Cable Telecommunications Southeast.

Heather Balkema, senior director of strategy at North Highland, has over two decades of experience in brand strategy, marketing and experience design across various brands, including Children’s Museum of Atlanta. She has been an active supporter of the Museum since she led its rebranding effort prior to the 2015 renovation.

Serena Levy is director of agile communications for The Coca-Cola Company, where she helps lead an eight-person team that focuses on external and internal communications, sustainability and public policy. Levy has nearly 20 years of communications experience and also serves as a board member for Foundation for Hospital Art and 48in48.
