(SARASOTA, Fla.) Groups of people started to claim their waiting spots at the Sarasota Fairgrounds on Friday, one day before former President Donald Trump is set to visit on Saturday, according to WFLA.

People were seen gathering at the fairgrounds, parking and setting up tents with camping gear in tow before Trump's event, where he is slated to give a speech.

The former president will take the stage at 8 p.m., with a fireworks show to follow at 9 p.m. Sarasota police alerted drivers of potential traffic delays on Saturday, per WFLA.

Ringling Boulevard will be closed from South Tuttle Avenue to South Pompano Avenue beginning at 6 a.m. until the event comes to an end.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will not be present for the event, as he is focused on the aftermath of the building collapse at Surfside, according to press secretary Christina Pushaw.

“Governor DeSantis is focusing on his duties as Governor and the tragedy in Surfside, and has never suggested or requested that events planned in different parts of Florida — from the Stanley Cup finals to President Trump’s rally — should be canceled or postponed,” Pushaw said. “He wants all Floridians to enjoy the holiday weekend and celebrate Independence Day however they choose, while keeping the Surfside families and first responders in their prayers.”
