Florida State News-by Betty Smith
A report of potential elder abuse prompted officers from the Florida Sheriff's Office to respond to Orange Park Medical Center.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was found to have a severe laceration to her left calf, "several bleeds from the brain," multiple bedsores, and a rash. In response to the investigation, Florida JSO's Special Assault Unit and the assistance of other Florida State agencies arrested 65-year-old caregiver Iris Kinamon, 65, for aggravated elderly abuse.
The arrest report states that Kinamon admitted that she hit her mother with an open hand. Kinamon said, according to a report, that he had done his best when asked about the bedsores.
After bonding out of jail, Kinamon was released.
According to the Florida police, the victim died as a result of her injuries. Death was ruled a homicide by the Florida Medical Examiner's Office.
JSO's Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Kinamon and she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
