On Tuesday morning, a woman lost her life in a hit-and-run accident on Highway 111 near Rutherford Road.
On arrival, the CHP discovered a person on the road on Highway 111 near Rutherford Road at around 1:00 a.m. As per reports, the person suffered major injuries and was later pronounced dead. The County Coroner’s Office will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
Reports indicated that the victim was an adult female transient. According to authorities, a vehicle, possibly a big rig, may have hit the woman, but they didn’t find any vehicle at the scene. The CHP is actively searching for a vehicle with major front-end damage. No other details are available regarding the fatal crash.
An investigation is continuing.
