Prospect League baseball: Four homers aid Bees past Quincy
After an anemic offensive performance Saturday night, the bats came alive Sunday for the Burlington Bees. The Sunday Bees banged out 16 hits, including four home runs, and buzzed past the Quincy Gems, 13-5, in a Prospect League baseball game at Community Field. Burlington golfer Nate Spear adds two more trophies to his growing collection
The official start to summer isn't until Sunday and the Fourth of July is still two weeks out, but Nate Spear is already hotter than a firecracker on the golf course. Spear, who will be a senior at Burlington High School this fall, blistered a couple tough courses this past week, adding a pair of trophies to his rapidly-expanding collection of golf awards. FMHS softball rally comes up short in 7th
Fort Madison High School’s softball rally fell short in the bottom of the seventh and the Bloodhounds lost 12-10 to Burlington High School Thursday at Hoskins Field. Neeley Rehm took the loss and came out in the fifth when Burlington was starting a nine-run inning. Erika Kruse came in and yielded seven of those runs but none were earned. Burlington scored on five singles, two walks and three Fort Madison errors. Read more
