It was a rough week for former Vice President Mike Pence this week, as he came to speak in the Greater Orlando Area at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to the Majority conference. The conference was set in Kissimmee, Florida, where evangelical voices from all over America descended to discuss faith and politics and how the coalition might better be able to secure a majority in government once again.

We haven't seen a lot of Pence lately, ever since the uprising at the United States Capitol that saw angry mobs gathered outside of the Capitol building, with some running through the halls of the building itself chanting, "Hang Mike Pence," and others building makeshift gallows outside of the building presumably to do just that.

You'll remember that on January 6th, Pence was ushered out of the building and to safety by the Secret Service as the mob descended, until the Capitol building was retaken and Congress, along with Pence, could certify the presidential victory of President Joe Biden over then-President Donald Trump.

Pence has spoken about the issue in early June at an event in New Hampshire, when he said that he and former President Trump would never "see eye to eye" on the events that unfolded on that day, January 6th, 2021.

Many of the former president's supporters believe that the presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump, considered pence a "traitor", words that would be echoed during the latest speech Pence gave.

And now, as Pence took the stage once again, amidst the cheering crowd, some boos began to chime in. Pence started off by speaking about Christianity, conservativism, and Republicanism, in what seemed like another ordinary speech from the former Vice President turned bad. As the crowd booed, the words, "traitor' and "hang Mike Pence" could be heard through the various shouts.

Pence, along with the other speakers, railed against everything even remotely left of the political center, from what they see as a Democratic Party trying to force "Socialism" on America, to progressive members of Congress, such as the so-called "Squad" which is made up of 6 U.S. House Representatives, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, the original four, who've since been joined by Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush.

Much of the conversation was centered around faith and politics, as conservatives hoped to ignite the old flames that former President Trump was able to ignite with his massive rallies. While Pence has been discussed in talks as a possible presidential hopeful in 2024, this shows that the former Vice President is still seen in an unfavorable light by many in the Republican, Conservative, and Christian bases, the kinds of voters he'd need of if he were to secure the Republican ticket...let alone the White House.

Various polls show the Republican support from Evangelicals remains strong, with numbers ranging from 76% to 81% of white Evangelicals supporting Trump.

The disruptors were quickly escorted out by security, however, and the former Vice President didn't miss a beat, continuing his speech as he'd planned.

While Pence may have put Joe Biden on blast, it appears the crowd also put Mike Pence on blast as well, leading one to wonder how long former Vice President Pence will be a notable figure in the Republican Party.
