President Biden has pledged to help make vaccines available to the world as he continues his fight to end the worldwide COVID pandemic.
On Monday, out of the total 8 crore doses, the distribution of 5.5 crore doses has been announced.
The White House told that 75 percent of the 80 million vaccines will be distributed through the covax campaign, while 25 percent of the vaccines will be provided to countries that are battling high cases of infection.
The much-anticipated plan has been launched amid low demand for the vaccine in the US and more than 63 percent of adults in the US have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while the world continues to see a lack of access to the vaccine.
He said that out of 55 crore doses, 16 million doses have been given to Asia and while India has also been selected from 18 countries,
which will get some percentage of the 16 million doses. India will be able to get only about 1 or 2 million doses.
US will give 100 million vaccines to India in 2021-22 while India's total allocation will be 30 to 5 million doses.
This is less than the daily dose being given in 1 day in the country. More than 82 lakh doses have been given in India under the new vaccine policy on Monday.
The vaccines will be divided into two categories. In the first category, the Covax vaccines will be allocated while in the second category the vaccine will be provided directly to the neighboring and allied countries.
The White House said in its statement that about 16 million doses will be allocated to Asian countries – India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and others.
The US is committed to producing more vaccines to share with the world and through the support of the International Development Finance
Corporation for vaccine manufacturing.In Africa and India, more than 100 million doses will be produced in Seal 2021 and 2022.
At the same time, the President has pledged to distribute eight crore vaccines by the end of June.
