(PHOENIX) A man accused of setting fire to the Arizona Democratic Party headquarters in Phoenix in 2020 was discharged from the hospital and booked into jail Friday, 12 News reported.

Court documents state Matthew Egler, 30, was in the hospital for treatment since his initial arrest.

Firefighters responded in the early hours of July 24, 2020, to a fire that was started at the Democratic Party headquarters building on Central Avenue. Authorities said the fire was extinguished but the building was a total loss.

Surveillance footage linked Egler to the crime, according to police.

The video allegedly showed Egler take something out of the passenger seat of a car he was in. Court documents state he allegedly broke two windows on the door of the building and threw something into the building, lighting it on fire.

Egler also allegedly posted pictures and videos online taking credit for the fire.

Egler was a former Democratic Party volunteer and was upset after he was banned from volunteering, according to court documents. Prosecutors said Egler had mental health issues during a hearing after his arrest in July.

At a hearing, he allegedly asked for the name of a Secret Service agent who interviewed him because he "passed a note to Ivanka Trump."

The Peoria resident faces one count of arson of an occupied structure.
