Last week I made a wise and blissful investment in my own self-care. I booked an appointment with Jacob and The Ginger Root Therapy for a full body massage, with a few add ons: hot stones, foot scrub, and scalp massage.

As soon as I walked into the building that is home to The Ginger Root Therapy, the scent alone was healing, relaxing, and also invigorating in a peaceful way. The Ginger Root Therapy is a one man operation at the moment, with its founder and healer being Jacob Rogers.

Jacob is a veteran of the US military who created The Ginger Root Therapy as an environment focused on holistic healing and deep relaxation. Every aspect of the business is infused with his passion for healing and aromatherapy from the melaleuca cleaning products he uses to his essential oil blend and the types of linens, music, and decor in the massage therapy room.

Jacob attended the Bodhi Tree Center for the Healing Arts and has a Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Community Health Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has been a licensed massage therapist in Nevada for over 5 years specializing in multiple formats of massage healing including hot stone, prenatal, and basic shiatsu. Jacob is also passionate about athletic massage as one of his add-on treatments is an ice massage perfect for relieving muscle tension and pain.

He created The Ginger Root Therapy to be a “place for people to relax and forget about the stress of everyday life.” And I can attest to this truth as I was probably the most relaxed I have ever been for a massage ever. As a bonus, Jacob’s vision for The Ginger Root Therapy is to “provide a luxurious environment with an affordable price” and I can also confirm this to be factual (The Ginger Root Therapy). I had an amazing massage, felt immensely pampered, left the place absolutely glowing and still had money left over for lunch!

As a massage therapist, Jacob is calm, peaceful, quiet and he checks in with you often to see how you are doing without a lot of extra talking. I have been to a lot of massage places where there’s just too much talking and I cannot ever seem to relax because I feel, as an introvert, on the spot to perform words and sentences while also attempting to relax. Jacob has the perfect balance between letting you know he is there, asking you if this is okay, and letting you enjoy the experience in total blissful true peace.

The massage was epic in its relaxation powers, the hot stones were amazing and the add ons of the foot scrub and scalp massage were so worth it. I for one love having my head and hair touched, it may be my weakness, but I have never had it massaged in this way and I have to say that it was a life changing experience for me.

The massage room is cozy, private, and just dark enough to feel at peace and rest. The music is peaceful. Jacob uses his own mixture of essential oils and lotions for the massage and they are enchanting and powerful. And at the end of the massage, Jacob puts a warm ginger infused towel over your eyes and it’s the icing on the cake even though, of course, you do not want the massage to end just yet!

Of course you can, and I know I will, book a massage again and again with Jacob at The Ginger Root Therapy. For more information, including their location, booking prices and add ons, check them out at The Ginger Root Therapy.
