It is common for people to have a hard time adjusting to working after being at home for an extended period of time. There are many reasons why this may be, but some have to do with the change in environment and others because they are no longer able to take care of their basic needs like cooking or cleaning. However, there are ways that you can make the transition easier on yourself, so it does not feel as difficult.

Working remotely can be a great way for employees to stay productive, but it is not always sustainable. You may find yourself more distracted when working in an office environment than when at home. To combat this, try setting up a designated area where you work best and stick with it throughout your day; this will help keep distractions to a minimum.

Many people miss office life and their co-workers when they are away on vacation or working remotely due to different circumstances such as an illness or family emergency. After returning from a long absence, it may take some time before someone feels like themselves again, but it is worth it. It can be tough transitioning back into "work mode," but eventually, things start feeling normal again.

1. Update your work wardrobe

It may have been a few months since you've seen the inside of your office, and now it's time to head back. You're looking forward to catching up with co-workers but dreading what you'll wear. Your work wardrobe might be outdated and boring. Or, possibly your old attire doesn't fit as well as it used to. So how do you update your wardrobe for an office environment?

The first step is to clarify your business attire guidelines at work. If specific dress codes or colors are not permitted, try finding neutral pieces in those colors or patterns like grey, black, navy blue, and white.

Next, look for clothes that fit well while being comfortable and stylish. Lastly, mix up your tops by adding bright-colored blouses under cardigans or jackets for a touch of color. Add pops of color such as bright reds, oranges, yellows, and navies into your outfits which will help give you an extra burst of energy. Invest in quality pieces that can be worn over and over again without looking dated.

2. Prepare your kids for the transition

The transition back to the office can be tough for many parents, and it's even tougher when you have kids in tow. As a parent who has experienced this transition myself, I know how difficult it can be to go from spending all day with my son, leaving him behind when I return to work.

There were days where he would cry until his little eyes filled up with tears, and mine did as well. The key is being prepared by talking about what will happen before returning full-time or part-time, which helps them feel more comfortable. It also helps to make sure you have a support system from the other parent, friends, family, or their child's school.

Have conversations with your child about why you need to go back to work and what they should do while you are gone. This could include having some of their chores or homework done before you leave so that there isn't as much left undone when they get home after school or daycare. Consider getting them involved in something new like sports or music classes to have positive activities to focus on.

3. Take a few days to get organized and get clear on new schedules

How does your work schedule look like? Do you have to wake up early, go home late, or even sleep at the office sometimes? It is important to take care of yourself and create a healthy balance. Plan how much time off you'll need during workdays and weekends. Give yourself time in between tasks. Map out what days each task will be accomplished.

With all the new information, it can be hard to keep up with everything going on. To not suffer from burnout or other mental health problems, we need to take time for self-care and maintain balance in our lives by creating new schedules before going back to work. This way, you're less likely to get overwhelmed by what's coming your way and will have more energy throughout the day.

It's important to get back on track as quickly as possible by organizing yourself and creating new schedules for every area of your life-home, work, and socializing. With a little time spent planning ahead of time, the transition can be managed with ease.

4. Prepare healthy meals and snacks to avoid relying on takeaways

Preparing your own meals and snacks is the best way to stay healthy. With so many takeaways available, it can be easy to rely on them for dinner or lunch when you're tired of cooking. However, if you prepare a few days' worth of healthy recipes in advance, this will no longer be necessary.

When the workday is long, and you're too tired to cook, it can be difficult to find healthy food options. It's hard to stay healthy during the workweek. You're sitting in a chair for long periods of time, your coworkers are bringing in donuts and candy, and you have an hour lunch break that doesn't allow much time to prepare a meal.

To make it through the week without gaining weight or feeling sluggish, it's important to start preparing healthy meals on Sunday night so that you can take them with you throughout the week. This will save you from spending money on food each day at your office cafeteria or grabbing something quick at Subway after work.

5. Set clear boundaries between work and personal time

One of the most difficult aspects of a job, especially for those who work in an office environment, is managing the boundaries between work and personal time. The use of smartphones has made it increasingly difficult to separate these two worlds. Many people find themselves constantly checking their phone or using it as a distraction from other tasks.

It can be hard to know when you should put your phone down, but it's important to set clear boundaries, so you don't feel like you're working all the time. The work-life balance is a delicate balancing act. It's important to have clear boundaries between your personal life and work to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
