Ohio family of four dead after triple homicide, suicide

(JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio) Four members of the Mavrakis family are dead following an apparent murder-suicide that took place in Jackson Township near Canton, Ohio in Stark County on Sunday.

Per FOX8, police released the names of 47-year-old Nicholas Mavrakis, 37-year-old Lesley Mavrakis, 13-year-old Ace Mavrakis and 5-year-old Pippa Mavrakis the day after the shootings occurred. The incident is believed to have resulted from a domestic dispute at the family's home on the 6800 block of Salerno Street NW.

"Upon arrival officers located four deceased family members," reads a press release from the Jackson Township Police Department, which states officers got there at 4:09 p.m. "At this time it is believed there are no other persons involved in this incident."

Authorities are currently withholding further details until the Mavrakis' next of kin can be notified.

"The Jackson Local School District extends its sincerest sympathy to all those affected by the tragedy in our community Sunday afternoon. Our district grieves the loss of two young children, and their family," Jackson Local Schools Superintendent Chris DiLoreto wrote in a statement on behalf of the district where Ace and Pippa attended school, per 19 News.

The superintendent also stated that players on the district's ninth-grade football team, which Ace was a member of, met with grief counselors on Monday morning. The district will also be partnering with Coleman Crisis Services to provide additional support for students and staff members.

Pippa had been registered to enroll in kindergarten in August.

Jackson Township detectives, the Stark County Coroner's Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate this case as a triple homicide, suicide. This story will be updated as more details become available.
